NEWS 2006
2006 December sales at Deauville:
Once again FBA was the LEADING BUYER with 26 individual horses purchased, but the best story of the year concerned the top price MANDALARA - purchased by FBA at Deauville in December 2004 for just €16,000 (on behalf of a Turkish breeder), she re-sold this year for a record €1.7 Million!!! Of course, it has to be stated that in the meantime she became the dam of the triple Gr.1 winner and European Champion Filly MANDESHA!
Saturday 2nd December 2006 thoroughbredinternet.com:
"The dam of triple Gr.1 winner Mandesha (03 f Desert Style - Mandalara by Lahib) one of the highlights of the December Breeding Stock sale catalogue, was purchased by Nobutaka Tada for a record-breaking €1,700,000 at Deauville.
The value of the chestnut mare, bought for only €16,000 at this same sale 12 months ago, has increased dramatically courtesy of the outstanding achievements of her Desert Style daughter.
Acquired by FBA on behalf of Turkish breeders, she was covered by local stallion Dinyeper, a Group 2 winner in Turkey but quite an exotic covering at a European sale.
Purchased privately later in the year by European interests, she was consigned today by Eric Puerari's Haras des Capucines. Mandalara is so far the peak of a hectic day of trade at Deauville, with very strong presence of international buyers from Australia, Korea, Ireland, the United States and obviously Japan."

MANDESHA, triple Gr.1 winner
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CLIENTS:
Mr Slim CHIBOUB: His mare PAVLOVNA (by Singspiel), purchased at Deauville in December 2005, is now the half-sister to CORRE CAMINOS winner of the 2006 Gr.1 Prix Ganay.
Dr Robert BOUSQUET, once again among the owners of the year. It is a feat difficult to achieve when you purchase no more than 10 yearlings a year, at an average price of €75,000 each. FBA does it every year, and succeed to have a group winner for Dr Bousquet every year (RUWI in 2006). We sold one of his horses HAMRIYA to Qatar, where is is now a "Gr.1 Thoroughbred Cup" winner and one of the best local performers .

HAMRIYA
Dr Fernand KRIEF: BEST NAME was sold to Godolphin after winning the Gr.3 Prix du Prince d’Orange and placed in Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Prix du Jockey Club. FLAWLY, his dam, is a pure product of Dr Fernand KRIEF's breeding operation at Gilles DEROUBAIX's Haras de SOU, as is STONESIDE the Champion 2006 two-year-old in Spain (and winner of the the Listed Prix Herod at Longchamp).

Haras de SOU
Baron Guy de ROTHSCHILD: CICEROLE (second Gr.3 Prix des Réservoirs) and PENNE (placed in the Gr.3 Prix de Royaumont) bring to their owner Baron Guy de Rothschild plenty of hope for 2007. Good luck and thank you for his confidence in us for so many years.

Baron Guy de ROTHSCHILD
GODOLPHIN (Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum): BLUE KSAR, purchased by FBA on his behalf, easily won a Listed race at Newmarket.
DARLEY (Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum): SLICKLY, their stallion standing at Haras du Logis and promoted by FBA, ranked 3rd first season sire in 2006. Other stallions promoted in France by FBA, on behalf of Darley/Haras du Logis, include DIKTAT (among the best stallions in Europe and a “star” in 2006), SAGAMIX (a future champion NH sire), COUNTRY REEL (3/4 brother to champion sire ANABAA), LAYMAN (Champion French two-year-old), XAAR (European Champion two-year-old) and ZIETEN (sire of many Gr.1 winners). Thank you to Julian INCE of Haras du LOGIS.

LANDO is, in our opinion, the best stallion in Europe, having produced Gr.1 winners in EACH of his crops, all this from a small number of mares. His second Gr.1 winner in 2006 is DONALDSON, winner of the Deutschland Preis, at Dusseldörf.
Mr Manfred OSTERMANN and Gestüt Ittlingen for running and producing so many top performers in 2006. He had success in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the USA.
